Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Specialist

Redhorse has an immediate opening based in our Reno, NV office. We are looking for a work from home (PT) part time senior level engineer/scientist with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position if the opportunity presents itself. We are a growing company and are looking for a motivated individual to join our environmental practice in support of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) compliance projects.
As a RCRA Specialist, you will support technical RCRA for a wide variety of land development, state and local government, power generation, and transportation-related projects throughout Nevada. You will coordinate and provide knowledgeable direction to direct reports on US EPA and state specific (CA and NV) environmental regulations, permitting and regulatory compliance strategies, and negotiation approaches (with emphasis on NPDES and RCRA requirements). This includes RCRA permits for treatment, storage, and disposal (TSD) treatment facilities. You will have an adequate level of knowledge to lead RCRA compliance tasks/projects and support air quality, water quality and or waste management compliance assurance.
As a RCRA Specialist, you will understand Nevada’s unique requirements for waste identification, handling and shipping. You will understand the Hazardous Material Business Plan (HMBP) program of California. You will be familiar with developing site-specific target levels and be able to apply those standards so regulatory agencies can utilize them.
As a RCRA Specialist, you will identify risk, document compliance issues, investigate site conditions, provide innovative or traditional remediation solutions, evaluate air and water quality, conduct waste minimization, engineering design, or facilitate closure.

requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental compliance programs in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Experience supervising/managing direct reports
